How can you use the Contesa bed to benefit your residents?
We rarely think about how a bed frame can help our residents, but the Contesa bed frame can help with benefits such as, eliminate falls, reduce the risk of acquiring pressure damage and improving residence independence. In addition, it looks like a normal bed.
Learning outcomes:
- To look at normal ‘hospital’ bed frame and understand how this can be detrimental to our residents
- To demonstrate how Contesa can eliminate bed falls
- To discuss how we can reduce the shear forces associated with pressure damage
- To highlight how you can increase a residents independance
- Demonstration of Contesa bed

Sarah has always had a keen interest in Tissue Viability since becoming a registered nurse in 2002. Her experience varies from within a community setting, where she completed her Tissue Viability based degree in 2007. She then worked within the private sector to gain additional advanced wound care skills whilst working with a medical devices company specialised in wound healing. In 2010, Sarah became a Tissue Viability Nurse and shaped a specialised service within the acute sector for 7 years before returning to the community setting as a TVN.
